PERSONAL.
The Prime Minister (lit. Hon. M. J. Sava.ge) will pay a visit to the South Island during the next week of two and mako a tour before he leaves for England. The Minister of Railways (Hon. D. G. Sullivan) is making a comprehensive tour of the northern districts of the South Island, accompanied by the Minister of Mines (Hon. P. C. Webb). Mr D. F. Reid, London manager of the Bank of New Zealand and formerly manager of the Palmerston North branch, has been elected chairman of the British Overseas Banks Association for the ensuing year. Mr Lars Larsen, who had resided in Dannevirke tor about 20 years, passed away on Monday. A highly respected resident, Mr Larsen was for 24 years manager of the Papanui Station, in Ohariu Valley. He was 80 years of age. At the request of the Campbell Street Church of Christ board of officers, Mr H. Ure will, act as delegate to tlie annual conference of the Dominion Churches of Christ which will be held at Palmerston North at Easter.
A well-known minister in the Anglican Church in Auckland, Rev. W. E. Connolly, died on Saturday. Mr Connolly, who was born in Dublin «.n 1854, was the son of a medical practitioner in that city. He came to New Zealand with Bishop Neligan, and was appointed vicar ot Psaparoa, North Auckland. Afterwards he was associated with Rev. W. E. Beatty in the parish of St. Mark’s, Renniera., where he took sole charge of what is now known as St. George’s. Mr Connolly is survived by his wife and two sons. Rev. IV. E. Connolly, vicar of Waiuku. and Rev. R. L. Connolly, vicar of St. Aidan’6, Remuera.
