EXPERIMENTAL AREAS.

SOIL CHEMIST’S VISIT. Accompanied by Mr E. A. Madden (acting-Director of the Grasslands Division of the Plant Research Bureau), Professor J. A. Prescott, soil chemist, of the Waite Institute, South Australia, inspected, at Palmerston North yesterday, the grass and clover experimental trial areas, the greenkeeping research area at the Hokowhitu golf links, and visited Massey College. Professor Prescott wa§ impressed with the work being carried out, and said he considered that climatic conditions locally favoured the species of grass and clover which the Plant Research Station was endeavouring to develop. He considered that it might be possible to make extensive use of New Zealand pasture plants in South Australia. Professor Prescott left this centre for Wellington early this morning.
