OYSTER TRADE

INDUSTRIAL DISPUTE. Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL, Feb. 2. The industrial dispute between the Southland oyster trade workers and Stewart Island Canneries Co., Ltd., and the oyster merchants of Southland was heard by the Conciliation Council to-day. The industry has never had an award and the parties concerned were faced with many problems. The terms and conditions of work were tentatively agreed to but finality could not be reached on the question of wages and the hearing was adjourned till February 22.
