While it lasts—-swell! l>ut no tears when it's ended!” That’s what lour lonesome, lovely ladies say ill ‘ Ladies in Love.” But what they do makes the now Twentieth Century-Fox picture that, opons at the State Theatre to-night at 10.30 p.in., to-morrow at 2 p.in. and 8 p.m. With the most brilliant and exciting combination of feminine personalities over to appear in one picture—Janet Gaynor, Loretta Young, Constance Bennett and Simono Simon —supported by Don Amecho, Paul Lukas, Tyrone l’ower, Jr., and Alan Mowbray, “Ladies in Love,” tells a brilliantly unusual story, with each of the four feminine players thrilling you in her own way. Janet, who, incredibly, feeds rabbits for a living; Lorettc, a chorus girl it) a musical show, and Constance, a mannequin who wunts a millionaire, pool their resources and took a small compartment. Excitedly happy in their new home, the girls eagerly plan for tho romances they intend to have, and dream of tho moil they love. Janet adores Don Amcche, a young doctor who occasionally employs her. Dorutta has fallen in love with a wealthy young man, who, however, is already engaged. Constance is enjoying a gay round of pleasure and excitement with Paul Lukas, a engineer on vacation from South America. When at opportunity for a better job presents ittfcll, Janet leaves her doctor and takes a ,|t as valet to Alan Mowbray, a famous' magician. Loretta, in the mcantimo, finds out that her beloved is to marry bis fintlee. in the very near future, and Constance, win has told Lukas that she docs not believe in love, except for the moment, finds that in him she lias found a love beyond her greatest dreams. Between Constance and Lukas, however, conics Simone Simon, an appealing and entrancingly beautiful young girl Who knows what she wants and is out to get it—a husband. These four girls, all “ladies in love,” so startingly different, so brilliantly exciting, move through a story as fascinating and entrancing as their own personalities. Janet, who wants to get married because she’s heard so much about it; Loretta, who wants alt men to lcavo her alone except the ono who docs, Constance, who longs for love and gets a millionaire, ancl Simono who knows the best way to get a man is to ask him, excitingly present a bitter-sweet romance of the adventures and disillusions of four little maids in search of love.
