AA'OODADLLE, Dee. 9. The Mayor (Air H. P. Horne) presided at the quarterly meeting of the AA'oodville File Board. The superintendent (All- H. N. AicNeil) submitted the following report:—“Six practice, have been held and the attendance at each was good. A call was received on October 10 to Air Noble’s wood stack in Mrs Barkwith’s yard in Ormond Street; the damage was slight. The fire was caused from a spark from a rubbish fire at the hack of a business firm’s premises. The second call was received on November 30 to a dwelling and shop in AlcLcan Street, owned and occupied hv Airs Kelly.” In applying for an increase in his remuneration, the nightwatchmaii (Air AG L. AleKinlay) said that his duties were onerous and on December 8 ho had completed seven years’ service. Air H. Galbraith moved that the subject be deferred until next meeting anil that it he considered when the estimates for next year were being drawn up. The motion was carried. AA'hen reference was made to a rubbish fire at the rear of a shop being the cause of an outbreak at Air Noble’s, Air Hustwic.li stated that the attention of the Borough Council should bo drawn to the matter. It was resolved that the matter lie brought before the attention of the council. The Department of Internal A (fairs forwarded a lengthy circular in reference to amalgamation ol local bodies, including fire boards, and asked for the comment of the board. Afr Norric urged that some resolution should be passed, and lie moved that tlie department he advised that the AVoodville board did not consider that fire hoards were suitable bodies for amalgamation. The motion was carried. It was decided that four smoko helmets be purchased for the brigade.
