CLAY PIGEON SHOOTING.
PALMERSTON NORTH GUN CLUB. A gusty wind on Saturday did not trouble the members of the Palmerston North Gun Club to any great extent, and no lower than seven possibles were recorded. In the third round of the Luoni Cup AA r - A. Thomson, R. Maher, AV. AV. Cook and A. Barnard all broke thou- 10 birds. Three shooters tied in the shoot for Messrs Milhvard and Cook’s trophies, IV. A. Thomson, F. Farmer and It. Maher each breaking nine clays. In the shoot-off R. Maher was successful, with F. Farmer runner-up. The Yankee shoot was another keenly contested event, AV- A. Thomson, F. Farmer, and IL Maher again getting nine breaks apiece. A sweepstake off 18 yards was divided between L. Maher and AA r . AV. Cook, each of them getting a possible of 10 birds. A lirst-miss-out was won by AV. A. Thomson. The principal scores were as follow: —AV. A. Thomson, 10, 9,9, 9. F. Farmer, 9,9, 9. It. Maher, 10, 9,9, 9. AV. AV. Cook, 10, 0,8, 10. L. Maher, 8,8, 8, 10. M. Kearins 8. 8, 8. N. Hanson, 8, 10, 0; A. Barnth'd, 10, 7.
