GIFT OF CHURCH.

PEASANTS ALARAIED. Received November 26, 11.15 a.m. PARIS, Nov. 25. Peasants of Chaucirey Le Chatel, a village in eastern France, are guarding day and night the Church of St. Hubert to prevent the Government presenting it to Air John D. Rockefeller in recognition of the millionaire’s gifts to France. It was proposed that the church, which is a gem of Gothic architecture, and the village’s only claim to fame, be dismantled and reassembled in the United States. The announcement of the plan drew a protest from the peasants, and when a few days ago a man vfds seen measuring the church the alarm was sounded. Sturdy peasants flocked in from the fields and formed a permanent guard round the building.
