Of that Bum £IOOO was for clearing and straightening the Tokomaru Stream, £3OOO for straightening the drain through the Seifert Company’s estate, and £2OOO for widening and deepening tho company’s drain to Linton, where it junctioned with tho Mangaore Stream. It was expected that, as a result of the recent census, the South Island would lose three electorates and tho North Island gain the same number because of the shifting of population. Tho suggestion had been made that the Tuapeka electorate and one in Canterbury, with the third in either Nelson or Marlborough, would ceaso to c:|st. The anniversary of tho Broad Street Methodist Church had been celebrated with special services. It was reported that there was a good supply of cherries and strawberries at Ashhurst.
