RANGITIKEI.

MARTON, Oct. 15. The Marton Diestrict High School Committee met this week, l)r. It. A. Church presiding. The possibility of installing another radio set in the school was discussed. Parts of the present set were stolen during the Christmas vacation. The headmaster stated that the children had subscribed for the set which had been stolen, and he did not think it feasible to ask his pupils to again contribute towards the expenses. The chairman agreed. The cabinet, speaker, gramophone pick-up, and the transformers were the only parts of the radio that remained, and about £2O would be needed to re-commission the set, Messrs Williams, Dashwood, and Tucker were appointed to go into the matter and report. As the result of a deputation from the committee waiting upon Mr O. Wilson. M.P., with a view to securing additional typewriters for th© school children, a letter received from Mr Wilson stated that he had discussed the matter with the Minister of Education (Hon. P. Fraser) who had expressed himself very sympathetic, The Minister said he was going into the possibility of using sec-ond-hand typewriters from Government departments. The resignation from the committee of Mr H. H. . Barrett, who has been transferred to Otaki, was received with regret. It was decided to invite Mr T. W. Ward to fill the vacancy.
