PAHIATUA.
PAHIATUA, Oct. 5. Two inter-club matches were played by the Pahiatua Golf Club over the week-end, one, for the men, against the Makomako Club, and the other, for the women, against the Eketaliuna Club (for the Cecil Rose Bowl). In the former contest, on the home links, Pahiatua won all the singles except two, and won five of the six-four-ball games and halved one. In the latter match the Eketaliuna players proved victorious by eight games to two. The trophy was won by the Eketaliuna Club four seasons ago and has been held by them ever since. At the meeting of the Pahiatua County Council, on Saturday, the following transfers of land were advised : R. Million to W. Cornforth; W.F.C.A. to S. A. Wylie; C. Bone to M. Ilowat; L. S. Polglase to Grace Edna Berry; Emily Polglase to Grace Edna Berry. Questioned as to the future of the two council employees who had formerly attended to the horses (which were recently sold) Mr S. Macrae, overseer to the council, stated that the men were not to be put off as jobs had been found for both of them.
On Saturday evening members of the Mangatainoka Football Club paid a surprise visit to the koine of Mr M. Reichenbach, at Mangatainoka, when be was presented with a framed enlargement of the senior team (which won the Bush championship last year). Several speakers eulogised Mr Reiehenbauli’s sporting attributes and paid a tribute to bis tireless efforts ou the club’s behalf while selector for the team. Mr J. Bohm lias received an appointment at the Wellington Public Hospital. Mr G. G. Hill lias donate'd a cup for the open pony jump at the Pahiatua A. and P. Show.
