SUMMER GAMES

ST. BRIGID’S CLUB OPENS

Three tennis clubs in Feilding intended to open the new season on Saturday—St. John’s, St. Paul’s and St. Brigid’s—but owing to the inclemency of the weather only one club, St. Brigid’s, made a start. Mr G. E. Pollock, president, officially opened the club’s season, there being a good attendance of members and visitors. Mr Pollock welcomed those present and expressed the hope that the season would prove a successful one. Bev. Father Brooks, patron of the club, extended a welcome to those present. A Yankee tournament was conducted, and the ladies’ section was won by Miss G. Christie, while the men’s was won by W. Worsfold. Mrs Pollock, wife of the president, served the first ball of the season. In the tournament the following visiting clubs participated: St. John’s, Colyton, Waiata and Cheltenham.
