SUGAR BEET TESTS.
TARANAKI EXPERIMENTS. NEW PLYMOUTH, Sept. 29. In order to provide data as a guide to the possibilities of establishing a sugarbeet industry in Taranaki, experiments in growing sugar-beet are to be undertaken by South 'taranaki boys' and girls' agri cultural clubs this year. Tlie yield and sugar content of (he beet grown in different areas will be ascertained. Mr R. Syrno, agricultural instructor, said that 100 plots scattered over South Taranaki would provide valuable information for the Government, which wus conducting trials to ascertain the value of beet
lor sugar in Now Zealand.
