PAHIATUA, Sept. 29. At the Foresters’ Hall, yestcruay, the Women’s Division of the Fanners’ Union sponsored a home and farm cralts display, t lie first of its kind held in tho district. Godfrey Taylor presiding. The report of tho headmaster, which revealed an increase in attendance, was adopted. Tho chairman said ho was pleased to see the roll of 1 tho school had gone up, and that there was no doubt but what tho grade would go up. Ho was sorry, however, that the secondary roll was decreasing. The headmaster pointed out that the matter would right itself next year, as thoro were many children coming on. Messrs Lett and Matthews were appointed a visiting committee for the ensuing month, and were deputo dto engage a suitable man for the work who will be under tho control of the headmaster. Tho final matches in the Bush Basketball Association’s series were held on Monday. Athletic defaulted to Konini, which makes the latter the championship winners of 1936. Konini will thus hold the Smith Shield and the Russell Yankee Tournament Cup. The cup for tho runners-up in the competition was won by Waratahs, who beat Rovers, by 3 goals to 2. Mr G. 0. C. Oxley has donated a shield for open competition. Tho following appointments have been made by tho .Wellington Education Board to-schools in the district:— Mr N. M.
