PAHIATUA, Sept. 12.

Tho annual concert of Iho St. Peter's Church Girls’ Club was held last evening, the sealing accommodation being filled to capacity. Alisa C'liatwin was in charge of the musical section and Miss Boyd controlled the dancing, with E. Taylor supervising the plays. The presentations wero warmly commended, and the promoters have every reason to he fully satisfied with their efforts.

Mr U. L. Parker presided at a mooting of members of the Pahintua .Motorcycle Sports Club, last evening. Among the correspondence was a letter from the Dannovirkc Wrestling Association advising that the association could not agree to the club’s suggestion for affiliation, but assistance would he given the club in promoting wrestling in Pahiatua. The decision had been arrived at on the advice of the Wrestling Union. Members expressed surprise and disappointment at the action of the Wrestling Union, as the general opinion was that professional wrestling would be popular in Pahiatua. The X.Z. Auto-Cycle Union wrote asking the club to noiriinnio u date for its inauguration race meeting and it was decided to apply for Anniversary Day, January 22, 1957.

At St. Peter’s Anglican Church, on September 2, Eileen Doris, youngest daughter of Air and Airs W. J. Humphrey, was married to Bernard, third son of .Mr and Airs John AlcDonald, of Pongaroa. Row H. Wilson, vicar cf Pahiatua, performed the ceremony and Alisa Irving officiated at the organ. The bride wore a frock of white satin beanie and laeo cut on slim linos and slightly trained. A coronet of orange blossom covered her head. Her shoes were white and she carried a bouquet of pink and white camellias and asparagus fern. In attendance on the bride were her two niece-, Misses Pearl Humphrey (chief) and Joyce Coulter. Valmai Judd made a sweet little riower girl. Air 1-1. AlcDonald, of Dannevirke, brother of the bridegroom, attended the latter as best man, while Air W. .McDonald, of Ponguron, acted as groomsman. Mr 0. Stone, of Konini, was the usher. Airs A. Tait. of Ballance, has Miss Attwood. of Hastings, as her guest. Mr P. Jones, who has been a member of the Taiarua Electric Power Board’s Mail, leaves in a week's time to take up a position with the Hurt Power Board.
