Before Mr Salmon, S.M., Sidney Claude Paget, whose record was' said to be bad, for obtaining 10s by false representation, received three months’ imprisonment. Charles Scott, who held a license in the Hawera Acclimatisation District and trapped nine opossums in the Wanganui district, was fined £5. Breaches under the new regulations, for underpaying shop assistants and exceeding hours, were brought by the Labour Department against Guilio Fossi Cutelli. He was fined £5 for paying five women assistants less than the prescribed wage, £2, for employing an assistant for more than 48 hours, and £1 for failing to keep a correct time book. His wife, Sarah Elizabeth Cutelli, was fined £5 for making false entries in the time book in respect of a youth employed as an assistant.
