CANNOT GET MONEY.
FIRE BOARD’S DILEMMA. MORRINSVILLE, July 18. Granted authority to raise a loan of £2650 at 3) per cent for 25 years for a new fire station- and engine, but unable to find anyone with money to lend on those terms, the members of the Morrinsville Fire Board outlined their troubles to the Minister of Internal Affairs (Hon. W. E. Parry), when lie visited Morrinsville.
The Mayor (Mr W. T. Osborne), who is also chairman of the Fire Board, read a list of a dozen lending institutions, including the Public Trustee, the State Advances Corporation and the State Fire Office, which had been approached hut had declined to lend the board the money it needs on those terms.
After viewing the old wooden fire station and the ancient fire engine, the Minister expressed his sympathy with the Fire Board and the members of tlie brigade. He said he would lose no time in making inquiry on the Fire Board’s behalf.
