(From Our Own Correspondent.) RONGOTEA,. July 18. The Rongotea Rugby juniors played Chakra on the local grounds on Saturday. 13otli sides were unable to field a lull team, but nevertheless made the best of i 7. The play was mostly confined to tlic forwards, making th egamc rugged but not spectacular. Rongotea were leading at half-time by 15 points to 8. In the second half Rongotea scored three move tries and Ohakca one, making the final score, Rongotea 24, Oliakea 11. Those who scored for Rongotea were Duke (3), Arnott, Sandon, Yafiandor, Morgan and Coley one try each. Mr ’l'. Goodwin refereed. The local seniors travelled to Rangiotu and, after a very close game in which they wero handicapped by haying to play three men short, proved the winners by 3 points to nil. , The Anglican Church held another ol the fortnightly euchre parties on Friday evening. There was a good number picsent and after an enjoyable evening s play the winners were as follow:—Ladies, Mrs Fades 1, Miss G. Fades 2; men, Mr J. Mearns I, Mr Hancox 2. Mr T. Major, of Featlicrston, is spending a holiday witli his mother, Mrs Major, in Rongotea.
