LIME WORKERS.

ARBITRATION HEARING. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 16. In the Arbitration Court to-day 13 lime manufacturing and distributing companies sought an extension of the hours of work to 44 per week for six months in each year, in the case of the manufacture of carbonate of lime or shell lime, and to 44 hours per week for the whole vear in the case of burnt lime. For shift workers an extension of the period of continuous work from 4} to 8 hours was sought. Representatives of the employers and _ workers had previously discussed the issue for an hour and a-half without being able to reach a satisfactory agreement. The evidence on behalf of the employers was heard and the hearing was then adjourned.
