ABYSSINIAN REGIME.
CHURCH ADMINISTRATION
LONDON, July 14
Tho Daily Telegraph’s Rome correspondent says that His Holiness the Pope has appointed a committee of cardinals and other prelates belonging to the Sacred Congregation to study important and far-reaching plans for collaboration between the Holy See and the Italian Government in Abyssinia, envisaging the exclusive use of Italian missionaries mid the establishment of 12 apostolic vicariates and prefectures. It is understood that all foreign priests wil be excluded and that nonItalian missionaries now in Abyssinia will bo transferred to other countries, ITALY’S FROZEN DEBTS. A difficult problem will arise with the lifting of sanctions against Italy, writes a London correspondent. British and French merchants arc anxious to resume trade with Italy as soon as possible, and exporters in both countries wish to know first what arrangements will be made for the payment of the large debts incurred by Italy before sanctions were imposed and since then frozen there Tile debts owed to Britain total £1.300 000 mostly for coal, and to France between £BOO,OOO and £900.000. The British Treasury is considering a scheme to deal with the debts. Covent Garden is expecting consignments of fruits and arrivals of gorgonzola cheese are also likely. Importers of Italian wines are hoping to replenish stocks which are low, and French exporters are accumulating large stocks in readiness to place them on the Italian market.
