RUGBY LEAGUE.

INTER-ISLAN D MATCH

Per Press Association

AUCKLAND, July 11. The annual Rugby League match between the North and South Islands, played to-day in ideal conditions before an attendance of 15,000, resulted in a win for the North by 21 points to 10. North scored five tries, two cmi verted, and a penalty goal, to South’s two tries, one converted, and four penalty goals. The match was rather disappointing as a trial lor the English team’s tour. Both teams took time to settle down. North in the first spell lacked the hall from the scrums. The forwards were evenly matched, but the North backs vein superior as a combination, although individually the South rearguard played well.

Outstanding players for Norm were Brown, Haslam and Coman in the backs, and Pickrang and Tetley in the forwards. For South, McCarthy and Garrett played well in the backs. Among the forwards McKncight and Behan were outstanding.

OTHER RESULTS. Wellington.—Central 32 v. Petonc 6; Hutt 18 v. St. George G. Napier.—Te Ngarue 14 v. Clivo 5. Christchurch.— Addington 26 v. Sydenham 0; Hornby 32 v. Waimairi 2.
