AUSTRALIANS BEATEN.

ENGLISHMEN AT BRISBANE. BRISBANE, July 12. After being behind, 8-5, at half-time, the English Rugby League team simply rail all over Brisbane in the final match in the Queensland portion of the tour. They scored 30 points in the second half to will by 35 points to 13. The English manager had (decided to field practically a Test match thirteen, the only absentee being Brough, who has been injured in the groin. During the first half England appeared to take things eusy, Brisbano maintaining a territorial advantage for the greater portion of the spell. England were exploiting short-punting tactics, but their handling was faulty, many promising openings being wasted because of this. After Brisbane scored their first try it spurred the Englishmen on and they threw the ball about among their backs, and Risman scored a try after Brogden had made an opening by a smart run down the touchline.

From the resumption Brisbane never looked like repeating their 1932 success against the visitors. The English forwards began to make their presence felt, and the referee had to caution Beverley on several occasions, yet Little, whose claims for the position of Australian hooker have been advocated in Queensland, practically broke even with Arinitt in the scrums. Before the second half had been in progress many minutes the superioritv of the Englishmen was amply evident. Belshaw, whoso error earlier in the day had given Brisbane their first try, played splendidly. Later on, Atkinson, by clever backing up, scored two tries. Edwards, the young winger, also crossed the line twice, one effort being a gem when he backed up to receive from Atkinson. Tries were scored for England by Risman (2), Atkinson (2), Edwards (2), Arkwright, Beverley and Watkins. Hodgson converted four, bringing his points tally on tho tour to a century. Stanton scored twice for Brisbano and Dwyer once, two tries being converted by Wright. The teams wero:—
