KAIRANGA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) KAIRANGA, July 1. A dance, organised by the ladies’ committee in aid of the school'funds, was held in the local hall on Monday evening. Owing io the bad weather the attendance was not so large as expected. A large number of tickets had been sold and so the function. was a financial success. A professional orchestra tvas in attendance and an extra was played by Mr Brain well. A euchre tournament was held in the supper room, where a large number of players took part. The winners proved to be Mrs 0. Collis and Mrs L. Lancaster, who tied for first place the former winning in the play-off; Mr 6. Collis and Mr N. Cooper won the first and second priz.es in the men’s games. Supper was handed round by the ladies committee. The lucky Gay Gordons dance was won bv Mrs L. Clark and Mr h. Karston and the lucky spot fox-trot by Miss It. Wasscn and Mr C. Burmcistcr. the prizes for the euchre tournament were donated by the following; Messrs D. Collis, M. Burmcister and MacPherson. Amongst those present were: Mesdames It. Cummins, black crinkle crepe; E. Mallett, brown marocain; 11. Green, burgundy crepc-de* chine; Russell, green, black and white; H. Jenson, wine marocain; J. Clark, green georgette and lace; G. Davey, floral crepe-dci-ehine; J. Burmcister, wine inatalasse; C. Hvde, wine marocain; G. Burmcister, taffeta; Lawrence, red crepe-cje-chme; L. Lancaster, wine marocain; Misses r. Dave, lemon crepe; G. Hyde, green elephant crepe; D. Clark, floral crcpc-de-clnnc; A Cooper, oink sand crepe; B. Russell, blue taffeta; j. Russell, green crinkle crepe; G. Jackson, white orgnadic: L. Bell, black velvet and silver lame; N. Mallett. pink crinkle crepe; R. Bird, red crepe coiona; M. Thompson, pink silk pique; R. Lassen, salmon and black marocain. A ■ committee mooting cof. the \\ omen s Institute was held on Tuesday afternoon. Present; Mesdames P. Loamy (president), J. Clarke, C. Hyde, J. Burmcister, L. Clark, E. Mallett, G. Davey, and Misses 0. Green and M. Small. Competitions were arranged for the next threo months. Arrangements for the fourth birthday of the institute were dir.cusscd and tlictsc arc to be brought forward at the next institute meeting.
