PAHIATUA, Juno 30

Soldier settlers and lessees of _ Crown lands had the opportunity of meeting Mr P. Bennett, in Pahiatua, for an informal talk. The chair was taken by Mr Moriarty. Mr Bennett, explained that the Wellington Land Board’s area was from Capo lurnagain to Cape Palliscr and up to the l’atca River in the north. The aftermath of the slump was being dealt with and already £60,000 in rent and interest had been written off. Dealing with the revival of Crown tenants’ land valuations, he mentioned that the Commissioner had agreed to a reduction in the revaluation fee from £5 5s to £1 Is in the case of soldiers, and £2 2s for 'Crown tenants. In view of this he advised all those working second-class lands or those who were dairying on sheep landb to make application for a'Jrevalnation. Mr Bennett thought there ,was every possibility of a revalution of the. Dominion within the next, 18 months.
