The completion of the third round of the Te Ivawau Rugby Sub-Union’s senior competition leaves the final issue in a fairly definite state, Rongotea, with a. clear lead of six points, need only a draw to carry off the MclCelvie Shield for the 1936 season. On Saturday the first senior representative game will be played against the Oroua Sub-Union at Sanson, when the Walalce Cup will be at stake, Te Ivawau being the present holders of the trophy, and the result will he awaited with interest. The sole selector has chosen a well-balanced side and they should give a good account of themselves. The junior competition is still uncertain, although the Sanson team appear to ho in a good position with a lead of four points over their nearest rivals. The Rongofoa team, who at the commencement of the season had a series of reverses, have reasserted themselves and have Avon five o-f their last six matches, twice beating the Sanson team. They have still a chance of carrying off the junior honours and their match with Sanson will attract a largo number of supporters of the two clubs. With the senior representative side defending the Wallace Cup at Sanson on Saturday, the junior team are to travel to Kimboiton to play the elect of the Oroua juniors in the annual fixture. The selector (Mr D. Shearman) has had much promising material at his disposal and the side he has chosen should acquit themselves well and play a good type of football. The following are the points to date in tho competitions: SENIOR.
