VETERINARY AID.

GOVERNMENT’S SERVICE

COMPLAINT OF INADEQUACY

The inadequacy of the present Government veterinary services in Taranaki was emphasised by several speakers at the monthly meeting. of the North Taranaki provincial executive of the Farmers’ Union at New Plymouth. The suggestion was made that veterinary instructors should be appointed to assist • farmers to deal with those problems, which were considered to be the biggest problems they had to face to-day. The Minister of Agriculture (Hon. AV. Lee Martin) advised that--.it was not considered necessary again to open the veterinary laboratory at New Plymouth; a Government veterinarian was stationed at'.Stratford, who was in close touch with the AVallaceville Laboratory, and' was available to assist farmers as fa,r as possible in connection with stock troubles.
