The death occurred at Reefton yesterday of Mr Isaac Patterson, a wellknown solicitor and mining advocate, after a short illness. He was in his 57th year.

A long record of service to the dairy industry was established yesterday, when, at the annual meeting of the National Dairy Association, Mr A. Morton, of Egmont Village, Taranaki, was elected ..chairman of directors for the 26tli year in succession,

It was decided, at yesterday’s meeting of the Wanganui Education Board, to place on record appreciation of Mr J. K. Hornblow’s services as a member of the Foxton School Committee for 27 years, and to express regret at his retirement after such a long term of office as chairman. The chairman oi the board (Mr E. F. Hemingway) saul that the town of Foxton, the Wanganui Education Board and Mr' Hornblow should be proud of his service to education.
