DOMINION POTATOES.

SOUTH AMERICAN INQUIRIES. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, June IG. Several inquiries have been received in Christchurch for the shipment of potatoes to Argentina and Uruguay. No sales have yet been made, but as the South American crop is short this year merchants hope that negotiations now in progress will end in export orders being booked. Two thousand tons of New Zealand potatoes, nearly all from Canterbury, were shipped to the order of the Uruguayan Government in 19133. The price received varied then from £5 10s to £7 ton f.o.b. Merchants in Wellington and Timaru have also received inquiries. If orders are boohed the export would have the effect of steadying the market.
