(from Our Own Correspondent.) ASHHURST, June 12. On Monday evening the Ashhurst euchre tilavors met. Newbury players :n the I own Hall in defence of the Whakan.igo Kuehro Shield. Good play was the rule and the game see-sawed, until late in the play, when the visitors carried all bC Q fere them to win by a margin of 9 names. The linal tally was: Newbury, 75; Ashhurst, 66. At the conclusion ot lo ,rames supper was handed rot.id by the members of the Ashhurst teams, and at a suitable juncture, the Ashhurst captain, Mr T Paten, congratulated the vis tors on their win, and in presenting the shield to Mr II < 'sen the Newbury captain, expressed the hope that they would have some further interesting games. Mr Hansen thanked the Ashhurst players for the entertainment and hoped that they would meet again. With Mrs Hewitt offic atmg at the piano, dincing was carried on till past midnight, Mr Paten being M.G.
