CENTENARY PLANS.
CONFERENCE AWAITED. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 26. “Further progress in connection with the centenary exhibition project in Wellington has been delayed pending a conference being called by the Govern-' ment,” said the Mayor (Mr T. A. C. llislop) to-day. “When this conference takes place I anticipate hearing wliat the policy of the Government in the matter is to be and the exact nature and extent of the Government support to the project. It is not possible for us to do anything further until that conference takes place. “Naturally lam anxious that it should take place us soon as possible because the time left for the necessary preparations is by no means too long. 1 understand that extensive work in preparation for the conference has been done by the Department of Internal Affairs, so that matters should be well advanced when the conference takes place. As soon as this conference is concluded I hope we shall be able to move forward energetically in preparing for the exhibition.’’
