The crisis concerning the franc has temporarily ended, and conditions have virtually returned to normal on the London exchange market. The stock markets passed a very dull week. Gilt-edged securities, deprived of last week s French support, yielded fractionally, and interest in industrial issues was damped down by political uncertainties and irregularity on Wall Street. Cable and "Wireless accounts show the highest receipts from messages since 1931. They totalled £4,902,01)0. while station working and maintenance charges fell by £31,000; net profits rose from £625,000 last year to £l,001,000 and the dividend was increased from 2 to 3J per cent., a special dividend of 42s 8d being paid out from reserves, which jumped by £717,000. The Cable and "Wireless bolding company shows lower dividends from tho subsidiaries, but more lia.s been earned from investments. Gross revenue has increased by £39,000 and the net profit is also higher at £1,026,000. The dividend has been increased to 5i per cent., cumulative preference. The first reports of the Royal Mail realisation company formed to liquidate the assets ot the Royal Mail Steam Packet group show that important sales have produced over £3,600,000.
