SOCIAL FUNCTIONS.
On Saturday evening of last week another of the popular weekly old-time dances conducted by the Arabian Nights Dance Club was held in the Cosmopolitan Hall. Music from a professional orchestra and a plentiful supEer were enjoyed by the large numer of visitors present. A greatly appreciated ’extra was played by Mr H. Bell, while the winners of the Monte Carlo waltz were Miss Wright and Mr Proctor. An announcement was made during the evening that, owing to Anzac Day, the next dance would not be held until May 2. The duties of M.C. were capably carried out by Mr L. Hogg. Most enjoyable was the weekly dance of the City Band. This fixture still maintains its popularity and continues to attract even larger numbers. Again Mr Jackson proved himself an efficient M.C. Extras were provided by Miss Conlam The novelties resulted as follow: —Novelty. Mr Hodgson; lucky Gay Gordons, Miss Blair and Mr Bromley ; lucky door ticket, Miss Nix and Mr Stokes'; Monte Carlo, Miss Nix and Mr Andrews.
