SCHOOL COMMITTEE NOMINATIONS.

ELECTIONS NECESSARY. For the first time for manv years the annual meetings of householders in Feikling will see contests for seats on the committees of both Lytton Street and Manchester Street Schools. The Bible-in-Schools League is this year manifesting an active interest in the elections, and at Manchester Street it ha.s put forward five nominees, and four at Lytton Street. At the former school the returning committee some time ago withdrew the right of the ministers to enter the school one day weekly for Bible instruction, the view being held that the morning service which is conduct-

- ed daily at the school covered the subject adequately. In the case of Lytton, Street, the committee has, allowed the weekly Biblical instruction to continue and in addition a short service is conducted s every morning at the school, i The following are the nominations i for Lytton Street, present members of ; the committee who are seeking re-elec-tion being denoted by an asterisk: s Mesdames M. M. Donaldson, E. Scott, i Messrs F. P. Fawcett. C. V. Jewell*, • L. W. Jenkins, K. O'Neill, L. D. Mil- . ler*, H. T. Simmonds, J. S. Tingey*, , H. Philps, C. V. Guy, F. Finch, H. . It. Bowater. . Of the old committee those who are : not seeking re-election are the chair- . man (Mr Jas. Penney), together with , Messrs R. Heald (secretary), T. Don- . aldson, Mrs M. Green and Mrs P. Pearson. Following his transfer to Wellington some months ago, Mr G. F. Loney resigned from the committee and in view of the approaching liouse- , holders' meeting the vacancy was not ' filled at the time. At Manchester Street 16 nominations have been received, the commitj tee nominating seven candidates, the I Bible-in-Schools League five, the Parents' Association two and two other nominations have also been received.
