WEDDINGS.
SIMPSON—RICKMAN. The wedding was solemnised recently, at St. Stephen’s Church, Marton, of Joan Maraon, eldest daughter of Mrs and the late Mr F. M. Rickman, and Edward Haniish, eldest Son of Mrs and the late Mr W. J. Simpson, Heaton Park, Marton. Rev. W. Raine officiated. The bride, who entered the church with her uncle, Mr K. W. Deighton, was charmingly gowned in cream satin and wore a limerick lace veil which had been worn by her grandmother. She carried a bouquet of cream lilies and freezias. The bridesmaids, Misses Pauline Gould, Beryl and Greta Rickman (sisters of the bride) *nd Gwen Hibbard (a cousin), were dressed alike in corncoloured taffeta frocks and brown velvet hats and carried posies in tones of brown and gold. Mr H. Stewart was best man, and Mr P. Simpson was groomsman. The ushers were" Messrs F. Deighton, .P. Brinnt and B. Simpson. Mrs Rickman, who afterwards rereived her guests at her home in Grey Street, wore a frock of nigger brown and carried a__ bouquet of autumn flowers. Mrs Simpson, mother of the bridegroom, wore black, and lier bouquet was 'of lavender and pink’ flowers. When Mr and Mrs E. H. Simpson left, the latter was wearing a smart suit of Gloucester green and halo hat to match. SCHMIDT—OSBORNE. A wadding of wide district interest took place on Tuesday, April 7,-when Linda, third daughter of Mr 11. L. Osborne, of Norsewood Road, was married to Leonard Eric-, third son of Mrs R. Schmidt and tlie late Mr Schmidt, also of Norsewood Road, Apiii. The ceremony took place in the Methodist Church, which had been decorated with autumn flowers in colours of wlitc, pink and blue. Rev. R. Patchett was tlie officiating clergyman and Mrs H. L. Osborne played the wedding music. Escorted by her father, the bride presented a charming picture in her gown of white silk lace over ivory satin, featuring a boat-shaped neck-lino and 'a wide sash of satin fin sliing in a buterfly bow at the back. The skirt fell in soft folds to form a fan-shaped train. Matching shoes of satin and lace were warn. The bridal veil of white tulle was daintily embroidered and fastened to a juliet cap of lace. A bouquet of white roses, hydrangeas and l'erns completed an attractive toilette. The bridesmaids, Miss Mavis Osborne (sister) and Miss Eileen Schmidt (niece of the bridegroom) were gowned in frocks of floral georgette, the former in alician blue patterned in pink ro’ses, and the latter in Margaret Rose- pink with a floral design of blue. Each maid wore mittens to tono with her frock,, and gold lame haloes and gold shoes, with bouquets oi autumn flowers. Mr C. Osborne was the best man and Mr E. Osborne the groomsman. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the residence of Mr and Mrs 11. L. Osborne, where the immediate relatives and friends of the young couple gathered to offer their congratulations. Mrs Osborne, the bride's stepmother, wore a modoL frock of navy and white silk marocain and hat of navy peach bloom velour. A shoulder spray of scarlet flowers completed her ensemble. Mrs Schmidt, senr., wore a smart frock of cocoa-brown matalassc with hat of brown felt, and she carried a posy of autumn-tinted flowers. The handsome wedding cake, made by Mrs Osborne ami decorated by M’ss E. Schmidt, was much admired. In tlie evening Mr and Mrs 11. L. Osborne entertained many friends at a dance in the Apiti Hall. The bridal party were present, tho newly-mar-ried couple lead’ng off tho first waltz. Mr F. Munro was tho M.C. and lively music was supplied by Mr J. Carr and an orchestra, extras being played by Mrs Osborne and Miss J. Searlo. Belore leaving on their wedding trip *to Christchurch, the young couple were accorded musical honours. For travelling the bride wore a smart suit of bottle gr.een cloth with blouse of b’seuit crepe suede. A halo hat of brown felt, with gloves, handbag and shoes to match, completed the ensemble. The leap year spot waltz was won by Miami Mrs Eric Clifton, and the prizes for the lucky Gay Gordons went to Mrs K. Cooper and Mr E. Osborne. Supper, including wedding cake for all, was enjoyed.
