HOLIDAY CRICKET.

FEILDING v. HUTT, Arranged at the instance of Rev. E. 0. Blamires, of Wellington, a former %vielder of the willow in the Feilding cricket competitions, a team representing the Hutt arrived in Feilding on Friday for a twoday fixture with a local team. The match was commenced at Kowhai Park on Saturday under beautiful weather conditions arid with the ground in perfect order. Quite a holiday atmosphere prevailed, "both sides batting 12 men and taking the game in a care-free and thoroughly enjoyable manner. Hutt batted first and found both Dewe and Barltrop at the top of their form. The former was getting a fast nip qff the pitch and soon had the visitors scratching for runs. The wickets fell rapidly although mainly at one end, Pegler keeping his wicket up for 12, when Dewe beat him. The score was showing signs of being of a small order when Sissons got the strength of the bowlers and scored well, being joined later by Wright, to stage a bright partnership. At 38, 'Barltrop beat Sisson's with a beauty and not long after the strike closed for 118. Dewe came out with six wickets for 42 and Barltrop 4 for 43. Feilding started disastrously, Burst going first ball, followed in short order by Thurston and Dewe, the score board still being blank. None of the batsmen could manage Ross's tricky deliveries ,and indications wex-e at first that the score would not be above 30. However, H. Fitzherbert showed some patience which had a heartening effect, while Edelsten swung some weight into his blows and got 19 together. The final stand between L. Whitehead and M. Fitzherbert was I quite an entertaining one, nippy work! between the wickets by the batsmen send-1 ing the score steadily along. Ross finally got past Fitzherbert, and the innings closed with Feildipg having .made 108, I ten runs behind the visitors on the first j innings. Ross's average was a very good one, reading six for 12. First innings scores were as follow : HUTT. Pegler, b Dewe 12!
