(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, April 9. the friends of .Mrs R. Hart, of luanawatu Heads, will be pleased to learn that she has now . returned homo trom a private hospital in Palmerston North. J. llcid, llall Street, will regret to learn (that she is at present confined to her bed. Mr and Airs <J. King and family, of Johnston Street, intend leaving Foxton at an early date to take up their residence in i ahnerston North. Rev. R. M. Chrystail, who has been spending a holiday m I‘oxton, has loft for Huntly. Shortly before 7 p.m. on Tuesday there v. as an interruption iri, the electric power supply to Foxton. A wild duck was the viiisc. The bird flow into t,he high tension u ires in No. 6 Line and brought these town on to the low tension lines. A loud ■eport accompanied the “shorting” of the ires; considerable damage was done, in all seven lines being affected. At the annual meeting of the Foxton Dorcas Society Rev 1 . H. S. Kenney presided. The report and balance-sheet were adopted, it was decided to place on record the good work done on behalf of the society by Gap,ain Read (Salvation Army) and Rev. H. a. Kenney (Church of England). Special ’votes of thanks wore passed to Mrs D. R. Barron for organising te supply of hot sjup to the school last winter; to Mrs J. Wall's for the supply of hot cocoa, and lo all residents who had contributed to the soup fund. Mrs F. Procter was also 1 hanked for her splendid work in connection with the distribution cf clothing to neccssilous cases; The Mayor (Mr M. E. Perrcaii) expressed his gratitude to the society for its efforts. A further vote of thanks was passed to Mr E. Jackson for his services as auditor. The Foxton School Parents’ Association came formally into being on Tuesday evening w'hcn there was a large attendance of parents and teachers at the High School. The name “Foxton School Parents’ Association” having been adopted, the question of qualifications for membership aroused some discussion, alter which it was finally resolved that membership bo open to all parents of pupils on the school roll and to parents of cx-pupils, these latter, however, not to be eligible for cfiicc; that there be no subscription but that members ffo enrolled by signing a prescribed form. All parents present signified their intention to become members. The objects of the association were adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows: Patron, Mr I. A Mason; president, Captain J. R- Middleton; secretary, Air W. Young; treasurer, Mr W. M. Thomas; committee, Mcsdamcs Titcombe, Thomas, 'Middleton, and Shorthouse and Alcssrs Botorcff, Podmorc, I<letcher and Adjutant Barnes. For the purpose' of raising funds for various purposes it was decided to launch a queen carmva at an early datert The forthcoming School Coinmitt-.-, election was referred to by the president, who made a spirited appeal to parents to take an active, interest m the election this year.
