BRITAIN AND AMERICA. NEW YORK, April 11. Newspaper reports from Washington to-day declared that America and Britain were undertaking a trade. sum ey with a view to opening negotiations for an Anglo-American reciprocal trade treaty. - Under the Trade Agreements Act no treaty can be negotiated without a public announcement and therefore any conversations so far held must necessarily be of an unofficial nature. It is stated, however, that Sir Ronald Lindsay (British Ambassador) and Mr Cordell Hull ' (Secretary of State) have undertaken preliminary exploratory discussions.
