A pathetic result of the prevalent war talk lias been the suicide of a Alons veteran, Charles Pearce, whose leg was amputated as JJie result of war wounds in 1916. He kept a small store in London. The reoccupation of the Rhineland distressed him, and he hung himself, leaving a note stating: “1 can’t bear the pain of another war.” His wife stated that the war talk hud upset him and he fell that all the sufferings of himself and others had been in vain.
