RADIO POLICY.
RESPONSIBILITY OF CABINET. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, March 18. The English Commission’s report on the British Broadcasting Corporation was the subject of interesting comment hy Hon. M. J. Savage when Ins attention was called to the recommendation that the Government should have an increased influence in framing radio policy . . .. “This,” declared the Prime Minister, “is what we have long been advocating here. The responsibility is with the Government for laying clown the policy. The objective must be to get the benefits of broadcasting into the homes of the people. It is not the Broadcasting Board’s duty to outline the policy. If we must have a board, and I don’t admit we should have a board, its duty is to administer the policy laid clown by the Government.” Cabinet, Mr Savage added, was nearly ready with its radio policy, which had been Ahe subject of a lengthy discussion. They hoped to complete it within a week or so.
