rugby and basketball. (From Our Own Correspondent.) GLEN OROUA, March 14 A combined annual meeting of the le Kawau Primary Schools Basketball and Rugby Associations was held m the rakorea School on Thursday evening, representatives being present from Oroua Downs, Taikorea, Glon Oroua, Rongotea and Kopatie. Apologies for absence were received from the teachers of the Rnngiotu and Sandon Schools. Mr R. L. HIU (laikorea) presided, and matters „ affecting basketball .were first dealt with Mr J. A. Shaw (Rangiotu) was elected president for the ensuing year; Miss E. M. Harris Glen Oroua), chairwoman, and Miss D. K. Curtin (Kopane), secretary The committee is to consist of the lady teachers of the various schools. It was decided to ptay only one round in the basketball competition for the Koster Rose Bowl, the four loadin' l - teams to play off at the end of the round. The competition will commence after the May holidays and should end Jn the second term. ... Mr S. G. Parlano (Glen Oroua) presided over the Rugby meeting, and was reelected chairman for the coming year. Mr U G Warner (Kopane) was appointed secretary, vice Mr J. C. Ward (Taikorea), who has been transferred to Wanganui. A vote of thanks, was accorded Mr Ward for the keen interest he had taken in school Rugby during Ids residence in the district the chairman expressing the w.sli that Mr Ward would have overy success in his new position. It was agreed that, as in the case of the basketball competition, only one round of football bo played and the four leading teams play off in a knock-out competition. The football matches would also be played on Friday afternoons, instead of Saturday mornings as heretofore, with two spells of twenty-five minutes. It was agreed m revert to the old rules wherein the weight limit was 9 stone, while the P r ® v -°V I ® age limit of 15 years was abolished. As in the case of basketball all matches wn be played in the second term of the school voar. *
