ST. PATRICK’S DAY.

IRISH NATIONAL CONCERT. The grand Irish national concert, which took place in the Empire liail last evening, proved an outstanding success. Tne concert was held, m observance of St. Patrick’s Day, and had been arranged by tlie St. 1 atrick’s Parish school Committee to raise funds for school amenities, At the conclusion of tlie programme, Very Rev. Mons,gnor AlaciYlaiius expressed thanks to the artists who had contributed such a delightful concert, every item of which had been much enjoyed. He also expressed appieciauon that the School Committee kept up the Irish traditions with a national concert, and voiced the hope that these magnificent traditions would survive, keeping alive memories of a land thav had suffered deeply but which had glorious records. In conclusion, Aionsignor MacAlanus thanked all who had assisted to make the evening such a splendid success, also the audience for assembling in such large numbers. . , . Air Shortall; song, “Alother Mr Whitelock; duet, “Danny Boy, Misses Lynch and Diedericli. Air A. W. Balmer, of Raumai, whose name appeared on the programme, was unfortunately unable to attend owing to illness, and a substituted item was a sailor’s hornpipe by Slurlev Henderson, a clever little pupil of Aliss June Scott.
