QUESTION OF VENUE.

MANAWATU AUTUMN MEETING—m.b MEMBERS TO DECIDE. Owing to tho grandstands at the Awapuni racecourse being damaged as a result of the recent storm, a proposal has been advanced locally that the autumn meeting of the Manawatu Racing Club should be held at Trentham. _ The Wellington Club is duo to hold its autum.ii fixture on March 14, 16 and 17, while tho Manawatu Club’s dates are the 20th and 21st, and the sister club has readily agreed to tho local club occupying the Trentliam property on the latter dates, which would give Wellington enthusiasts five days’ racing in close succession. While the New Zealand Racing Conference has also granted tho Manawatu Club the necessary permission to make tho transfer, tho comrnitteo of the local club intends placing the position before a genoral meeting of members on Monday evening and allow them to make the decision. The loss to the club as a result of _ the storm damage is a hoavy one, financially, and while there is every prospect that tho transfer to Trentham would enable tho club to show an increased profit by reason of the larger attendance and tho increased totalisator returns which would probably result, it is recognised that the club owes h duty to its local supporters, district horse owners, etc., hence, the resolve to allow tho members to decide the matter.
