ELECTRICITY SUPPLIES.
RESTORATION IN CITY. Restoration of the eleven high-ten-sion feeder lines which were badly damaged by the hurricane, and put most of the Palmerston North reticulation system out of commission, was completed by the employees of the City Council’s electricity department during the week-end. Street lights were functioning again hv Saturday night, and water heaters were in use again on Sunday, after the service had been interrupted for a week. Though they a.re carrying the usual load, there is still some subsuliarv work to be done on leeder lines, and an overhaul of the system is now proceeding. Two poles carrying High tension wires will have to he replaced, one having been spliced temporarily. _ Supplies of electricity for lighting, heating and power should now be available to all consumers. There may be instances where the outward appearance of the service line is quite in order, but other damage that is not visible has been overlooked in the rush to complete the repairs. Consumers who are not now receiving supplies are : asked to notify the municipal electricity department so that-steps may be taken to remedy the position.
