(From Our Own Correspondent.) AI’LTI, Jan. 20. Heather Wilson, daughter of Mrs <J. Smith, of Itidgo Road, entertained a nnmner ol her young friends recently at a jolly hirthdav party. Games and competitions kept the children happily occupied In fore sitting down to the birthday repast, the birthday cake, made and decorated by Mrs Smith, was mounted by 15 candles and those were lit by the lievs ot the party and extinguished by tbe girls. .More games followed and early in Iho evening the little folk staged an impromptu concert which was enjoyed by all. Rev. R. Patchett conducted a church service on Sunday at the residence of Mr and Mrs J. Smith, when there was a good attendance. Miss Coral Anderson, of Auckland, was a visitor to Awawaro over the festive season. Mr R. Brown is borne again after a week spent at Kimbolton. Phenomenally heavy rain fell throughout the district on several days last week, and though the. downpour will benefit crops and gardens, a number of farmers will probably have their hay ruined. The high winds which have prevailed are causing a good deal of damage in the local orchards. The Oroua River has been in food for some days.
