OBITUARY.

MBS DANIEL CRAWFORD. Deep regret will be felt my many in learning of the passing, in a private hospital in Palmerston North, early on Sunday morning, of Mrs Margaret Mowat Crawford, wife of Mr Daniel Crawford ("Walton), and sympathy will be extended to the relatives and friends. Mrs Crawford, who was the younger daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Montgomerie, of Kauwhata, was only 29 years of age, and her sudden passing came as a shock. With her small daughter, Mrs Crawford arrived about ten days ago to spend a holiday with her parents, and. although ill need of a change, was apparently in quite good health. Only last Wednesday she attended the meeting of the Awahuri Women’s Institute, enjoying greatly the contacts with her old friends. Quite suddenly she went down to an attack of gastric influenza and on Saturday her condition necessitated her removal to hospital. Despite all that loving care and medical attention could do she passed away shortly after midnight before her husband, who had been summoned, could arrive. Born in Palmerston North, Mrs Crawford spent most of her life in the Awalniri district, receiving her early schooling there. She also attended the Palmerston North Girls’ High School and the Technical School. She was a universal favourite at school and later slip identified herself with the social and sporting life of the district, taking an active part particularly in tennis. The affectionate esteem in which she was held was fully evidenced in the gifts that were showered unon her on the occasion of her marriage only three years ago, and in her new home she had already made a host of friends. Much sympathy has been extended to her parents and her sister. Mrs A. Goodman, of Kauwhata, and her brothers. Messrs Hugh Montgomerie (Papakura) and John Montgomerie (Kauwhata). Iu addition to her husband there are left to mourn their loss a baby daughter, and Misses Agnes Crawford (New Plymouth), Margaret Crawford (Napier). Jean Crawford (Blenheim), and Mr Alan Crawford (Apiti), sisters and brother of Mr D. Crawford.

The funeral took place at Kelvin Grove cemetery to-day. when the services at the house and the graveside were conducted by Rev. Mr Berry.
