THE NAVAL CONFERENCE. JAPAN’S ATTITUDE. ; (United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received January 18, 1.40 P-m-LONDON, Jan. 17. A communique states that the t°* ir ‘ Power naval conference continued the examination of the French, British, < Italian plans for a system of advance notification of annual programmes and exchange of information. It also discussed guiding rules which might be followed in the event of,the adoption o the proposal, and appointed a sub-com-mittee representative of Britain, Canada, India, the United States, France, and Italy to work out the details, aftei which it adjourned till January 2i, when it will discuss qualitative liinitatation. , It is understood the conference lias reached a considerable measure of agreement, the sub-committee s task merely rounding off the proposals The Times Tokio correspondent declares that if the four Powers work out an agreement limiting navies Japan s compliance is certain when the atmosphere has undergone a satisfactoiy change.
