SEARCH FOR OIL.
PROSPECTING AT HOME. LONDON, Nov. 19. Large-scale prospecting for oil in England is about to commence, following the issue of licenses by the Board of Trade. The Anglo-Iranian Oil Company states that geological investigations justify test drilling in addition to geological and geophysical work. The Daily Mail says it is believed that rich oil beds exist at a depth of 3000 feet throughout England. Thirty prospecting licenses under the recent Betroleum Production Act have been issued by the Board of Trade to the Darcy Exploration Company, which is a development company of the AngloIranian Oil Company. The licenses cover areas totalling 543 S square miles in Surrey, Sussex. Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamslure, Leicestershire, Rutland, Cambridgeshire, and Norfolk. Applications for licenses for more than 20 areas have been received and are under examination.
