THE CROAT TERRORISTS. ATTITUDE OF PASSIVITY. PENDING COUNSEL’S RETURN. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received November 21, 10.0 a.m. AIX-EN-PROVENCE, Nov. 20. The Croat terrorists started a hunger strike last night and refused to leave their cells to-day. Gendarmes practically carried them to tho Court, struggling furiously. They declare that they will not answer questions till Maitre Dcsbons resumes their defence.
Maitre Desbons went to the prison to see his'clients, but was refused access on the ground that Tie no longer had the rights of a barrister. Ho told the Press that “being struck off the rolls is the honour of my career.” The news that Maitre Desbons had been struck off the roll caused a sensation in the Paris Bar. A leading lawyer recalled that M. Briand was once disbarred. He described the decision as regards Maitre Desbons as outrageous and based on political rather than on judicial grounds.
