EDUCATION BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. At the November meeting of the Wanganui Education Board, which was held in Wanganui yesterday afternoon, Mr E. F. Hemingway presided. Others present were Rev. J. S. King; Colonel J. H. Whyte, Messrs J. S. Tingey, 11. Dukeson, P. Munro, W. Benefield and A. S. Coleman. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs M. IT. Oram and J. Tv. Hornblow.

The following school terms and holidays were fixed for 1936: —First term: Monday, February 3, to Friday, May S. Second term : Monday, May 25, to Friday, August 21. Third term: Monday, September 7, .to Thursday, December 17. Opening date, 1937: Monday. February 1. The following teachers, it was reported, are leaving the board’s service: Mrs J. Taylor, assistant, Palmerston North Central; Mrs A. Macalister, assistant,' Queen’s Park; Miss A. D. Sexton, assistant, Taihape D.H.; Miss M. M. Norrie, assistant, Manunui; Mr A. Sadler, head teacher, Alton. Appointments.—Mr F. Orgias, sole teacher, Orangimea; Miss A % T. Fowles, assistant, Palmerston North Central; Miss C. Quinn, sole teacher, Denlair. In regard to the question of conveying the Cloverlea children to Palmerston North, no action could be taken, as the City Council could not extend the bus service. The Education Department advised that Tangimoana school was not on the list of urgent works and would be considered later. The board decided to inform the department that the case should be on the list as it is urgent.
