WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE.

YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. A sharp firming in brewery issues was the principal feature of the markets on the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday. Now Zealand Breweries moved up to 55s 3d, sellers 56s 6d, compared with sales at 52s 9d to 54s last week. . Staples were 6d up at 34s 6d, sellers advancing to 36s 9d. Carlton gained 3s at 535, sellers holding for 555. Tooths hardened to 58s, sellers 595, and Toohoys were wanted at 30s. No business was recorded in this section. No changes of much moment wore shown in other sections, but the markets generally were firm and active, trading being brisk. Timber issues were firm, particularly Taupo Totara, which advanced to sales at 8s 9d and 8s Bjd. Bank shares were more active, especially Union, which had three sales at £9 10s and another at £9 9s. New South Wales wore done at £33 2s 6d and New Zealand at 51s. Commercial of Australia firmed to 16s Bd, a gain of 4d, sellers asking 17s. Reserve Bank were Is 6d better at £6 4s 6d. Dalgety improved Is \> £8 2s 6d, and Goldsbrough Mort were 4d up at 31s 4d. Other sections showed little chango. New Zealand Refrigerating, 10s paid, were easier on a sale at 10s Bd.
