WAIATA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) WAIATA, Nov. 18.
An energetic working bee spent a busy day at the school when the new tennis courts were fenced in. The workers, under the supervision of Mr B. McLeod, did an excellent day’s work, erecting a strong netting fence and doing several other necessary jobs in connection with the courts. All that is required now is real summer weather and the newly formed club will be able to start.
After many weeks of rain and mud to hinder farm work, the last few days of sunshine promise that summer is really coming, and every bit of fine weather is taken full advantage of either with shearing or working on the land. The sowing of crops is a good deal behindhand this season.
A good many Waiata settlors are now enjoying the luxury of elcctr:c light, the power having been switched on on Saturday last. The work of erecting the poles still continues and the power is to bo carried further than was at first expected. Tt, is hoped the hoard will he induced to continue the work round the block.
